REASON 2: THE MEDAL-
Since its inception the Baltimore 10 Miler has started and finished in Druid Hill Park, which is also the site of The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. With that in mind, this year’s finisher’s medal will feature the African penguins, which call the zoo their home. REASON 3: THE COURSE- The Baltimore 10-Miler has quickly become an annual rite of summer for the local running community. The scenic trek starts and ends at the Maryland Zoo and includes run-through visits of Druid Hill Park and around Lake Montebello. It is a fair yet challenging course but one you will certainly feel the right to brag about when you get to work after the event.
REASON 4: LIVE TV- ABC2’s live coverage will once again deliver prestige to Baltimore’s biggest summer running event.
In addition to showcasing the athletic endeavor of the race, our live programming will share numerous inspirational stories about participants and how the Baltimore community rallies around this event to welcome runners. By expanding our coverage to 3 live hours we will be able to highlight even more community based stories and give the numerous charitable beneficiaries of the event a great platform to share their missions.
REASON 5: THE CHARITIES-
The Baltimore 10-Miler is a race you can truly feel good about running. The event benefits a number of local organizations and much of the funds raised stay right here in the Greater Baltimore area. Signal 13, for fallen policemen and their families; the Ragonese Family Trust, to benefit former CSE VP of Operations Mark Ragonese; Girls on the Run, helping keep area youth fit and healthy; The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, supporting animal conservation and education; and several others benefit from your participation in the event.
REASON 6: THE CELEBRITIES- Joining you on the race course are several local faces that you will certainly recognize: Mallory Sofastaii
of ABC2 will be running on behalf of Girls on the Run; Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis will run as part of our “Caught by the Commish” promotion; Mark Viviano, Sports Director for WJZ and Brent Harris of CSN Washington will be running for the Mark Ragonese Foundation; and Running Superstar Dave Berdan will also be in the field running on behalf of the Maryland Zoo.
REASON 7: THE FINISH LINE AMENITIES- Runners are greeted at the finish line with watermelon slices, cold washcloths, bottled water, Gatorade, Gu Gels, and more. Plus of-age runners will get two free beers. What else could a runner ask for?
REASON 8: THE POST-RACE PARTY-

REASON 9: BIB PICK UP IN YOUR BACKYARD- With our partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods, we will have 19 hours of pick up in 4 different locations during race week; White Marsh on Tuesday, Columbia on Wednesday and Gaithersburg on Thursday, plus at the Zoo on Friday.
