Wrapping Up the 2014 Baltimore 10-Miler
Thank you once again for participating in the sixth running of the Baltimore 10-Miler. This event is many of the Corrigan Sports staff’s favorite and from our post race survey, it sounds like many of you would agree. A solid 95% of you would recommend running the Baltimore Running Festival to a friend. As we always say, there is no higher praise that you can bestow upon us than to tell your running buddies that this race is worth their time, effort and money! THANK YOU!
While the overwhelming feedback from the surveys was positive, there is always room for improvement. Here are some of the things we will work on for 2015.
PARKING- The majority of runners had a positive experience when parking but some did mention the lack of police support on the main roads when trying to navigate to the parking lots. This is something we have addressed with the police and will try to find a way to improve on for next year. As always we encourage runners to carpool, use all advertised driving routes and consider taking the metro that stops at the Mondawmin Mall Metro Station, just blocks from the start.
LATE RACE START- While some late arriving runners appreciated the 10-minute late start of the race, others felt like they were penalized for other’s mistakes. We understand both sides here and felt that this delay was the right thing to do this year. Our staff is tasked with making race-day judgments that were not “in the plan.” Please know that we don’t make these decisions without careful thought and consultation. In this case we felt delaying the start was the best decision for this situation.
PACKET PICK UP- We continue to hear positive feedback on the off-site packet pick up at multiple locations. While we would love to offer every runner a pick up location in their neighborhood or near their work place, we all know that is not really possible. Each year we review where a majority of our registered runners are coming from and select the locations based on that data. One thing we plan to do next year is pick a different location for pick up in Druid Hill Park for Friday. We will probably do this near the main entrance of the zoo to ease some of the traffic flow issues.
Once again, we thank you for your support and participation. Registration for next year’s race is NOW OPEN. Please visit our NEW WEBSITE created by our new online registration team from RacePartner to sing up today!
Sincerely,
Lee Corrigan
