A portion of the proceeds from the race will beneift The Maryland Heart Center, which is recognized as a regional leader in providing advanced cardiac treatment for adults and children. There are all sorts of success stories that Maryland Heart Center physicians and staff make possible every day while perfoming surgeries such as Aortic Valve Surgery, Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Lung Transplants and more. Visit this link to meet some of their patients and read about their life-changing experiences.
Additionaly, local sports broadcasting personalities Mark Viviano and Brent Harris will run the RELAY FOR RAGS. Starting at the front of the pack Mark & Brent will split the 10-Mile course in an effort to finish in front of as many runners as possible. For each runner who they beat, they will earn $2 for Mark Ragonese Family Trust. Funds raised will go to assist Mark Ragonese, a CSE employee who was paralyzed two years ago while setting up for a race here in Baltimore.
Further the race will benefit, The Signal 13 Foundation whose mission is to provide financial assistance to Baltimore Police Department Personnel, both civilian and sworn, who unexpectedly suffer extreme personal emergencies. CSE will donate $2 for every runner the top finishing police officer beats to the finish line. A total of 10 Baltimore City Police personnel will run in the race.
Charity Groups from Team In Training and Back On My Feet will be running to raise funds for their organizations and Special Olympics Maryland and other charity groups will be on hand in a volunteer capacity.
All in all, each of you can feel proud of participating in such a charitable event.
